PNG Wahgi Wahgi Estate is sourced from the Southern edge of Mount Hagen in the western highlands of Papua New Guinea. PNG Wahgi Wahgi Estate is a complex peaberry coffee with aromas of tropical fruit, tobacco, and baking spice which lead into a body of dark chocolate, dried fig, and honey flavors. A moderate acidity hosts subtle citrus notes followed by a sweet, cocoa powder finish.
Established in 1974, the Estate’s land is now owned and operated by smallholder farms including local tribes. The estate is located along the Kimel river which provides the water used for their fully washed and sun-dried processing under the shade of indigenous Albizia and Grevillea trees. The Estate is known for providing housing, schooling, and medical facilities for the Kimel workforce and their dependents. They grow environmentally friendly coffee by recycling the pulp and water used for washed processing.
